Description
Photograph real cowboys on a real ranch during an actual branding. You can’t get more real than that! Participants will be stationed safely around the periphery of the branding corral but will have the opportunity to individually go into the center of the action with Chris Dickinson and the entire branding crew.
This event is separatedin two partsa lecture held at and an on-location event. Reserve your seat for a special presentation by photographer, Chris Dickinson, and The State of Utahs Animal Industry Director, Leann Hunting on Friday, May 19th, from 6:30-8pm. Chris will share more about his work, and both speakers will offer insight and education on what to expect the following day. The on-location event will be Saturday from 7-9am.
We will be meeting at the Park and Ride in West Haven, UT at 6:30am and carpooling over to the ranch. Please be on time. For those that will be using vehicles for carpooling, with all the moisture this year, it’s highly recommendedtobe in a 4×4 truck or similarly capable SUV.
Common courtesy on the ranch, DO NOT speed when entering or leaving. Please maintain5 to 10 mph. Keep in mind, there are no bathrooms.

Chris’ images have been regularly published in and featured by some of the most celebrated Western publications, from magazine covers for Cowboys and Indians, Western Horseman and American Quarter Horse to multiple photo essays for feature stories. In addition, his images have been used in national and international advertising campaigns with some of the world’s most notable brands like KFC, Choice Hotels, and Virgin Airlines. Chris and his wife are self-employed and based in Utah where a majority of his Western work has been captured at and alongside the ranches and families of the American West.
Chris also is a photography educator, holding photography retreats that are not only authentic Western adventures, they’re also a time for others to come together and learn from one another as Chris leads them through framing the West while composing compelling stories.
